Yalçın Sabancı Training Foundation was established on 24 June 2004 with the aim of providing training and educations to the children and youth who are capable but are deprived of financial possibilities in accordance with the general objectives and basic principles of the Turkish National Education.
It started its activities in the 2005-2006 training and education year by giving non-refundable grant to 72 students who are getting training at 37 primary, 11 secondary and 24 higher education schools. Our foundation has continued its activities by giving more scholarships in every passing year. The number of scholars has reached to 742 students in the 2011-2012 education years by giving scholarships to 270 primary, 179 secondary and 293 higher education students.
Yalçın Sabancı Training Foundation Scholars are given in 2 main groups;
The scholarships given to the students of İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Denizcilik Fakültesi, Piri Reis Üniversitesi, Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Deniz İşletmeciliği ve Yönetimi Yüksek Okulu, Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi Sürmene Deniz Bilimleri Fakültesi, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Makine Fakültesi Gemi İnşaatı ve Gemi Makineleri Mühendisliği due to the need of qualified maritime personnel in the rapidly developing maritime sector. (The scholar selection is carried out at the foundation headquarters by interview for students getting training in İstanbul and by selection boards of the related universities for the others).
Scholars given with the aim of helping the children of personnel, working at the YASA group of companies, who are getting training at every level to grow up better.
In 2011-2012 academic year, Yalçın Sabancı Training Foundation will also continue its growth by increasing the non-refundable scholars that it has given to the students who are bound to the Atatürk's principles and reforms and selected from all regions of Turkey and have national feelings and who are steady character, trustable and successful but in need of financial support.
